To Freeze or not to Freeze



What you can freeze...

Raw beef - 12 months

Raw pork - 6 months

Raw poultry - 6 months

Ground meats - 3 months

After these time periods, meat will not taste or look fresh, but you can cook it before it reaches that point and refreeze. Cooked meats will usually last three months.

Other Items you can freeze...

Raw egg whites (out of shell) - 12 months

Cakes, cookies, breads - 4 months

Firm cheese (ex Cheddar, Swiss) - 6 months

Plain nuts (not salted or spiced) - 12 months

Do not freeze: Raw tomatoes, salad greens, salad dressings, mayonnaise, cottage cheese and custards.
