Preparation:
Sieve together flour, bicarbonate of soda and spices. Add oatmeal. Melt butter, treacle and sugar in a saucepan and add, with the beaten egg, to the dry ingredients. Lastly stir in the milk to give a fairly soft batter. Turn into a 9 inch cake tin lined with grease-proof paper or baking parchment. Bake at 350F for 25 minutes. Turn down to 325F until a knife or skewer, when inserted, comes out clean. Leave overnight in closed container before eating. |
