Preparation:
Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt in a heavy saucepan. Stir in milk and cook over a medium flame until thickened and bubbly. Turn off flame; stir about half of the cooked mixture into egg yolks. Return egg mixture to pan mixing thoroughly. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes. Stir in butter and vanilla. Cover surface with clear plastic wrap and let cool. |
