Preparation:
Cream 1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter. Sift together 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp. salt. Mix into butter until crumbly. Press all but 1/2 cup mixture into greased 9" by 13" pan. Bake 10-12 minutes until edges slightly brown. Do not over bake. (350 degree oven) Meanwhile melt together over low heat 3/4 pkg. chocolate chips and condensed milk. Stir in vanilla. Pour over hot crumb mixture. Spread evenly. Mix together remaining chocolate chips, 1/2 cup crumb mixture, and chopped walnuts. Pour evenly over chocolate mixture. Bake 20-25 minutes in 350 degree oven until center is firm. Cool completely. (Best made the day before). Cut into bars. |
