Preparation:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add beaten egg, syrup and then dry ingredients (which have been sifted together). Add hot water last. This makes a soft batter but a fine cake. Bake in greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes . Serve with cold Lemon Sauce.
Lemon Sauce
Cook sugar, cornstarch and fruit juice in double boiler until transparent. Remove; add butter, lemon juice, rind and marshmallows. Beat with egg beater until smooth. Refrigerated in a covered container. |
