Preparation:
*use pecans, walnuts, etc.
Grease and flour inside of Bread N' Cake Bake Pan.
In a large bowl, combine snipped dates and orange peel. Stir in boiling water and orange juice. Add sugar, shortening, egg and vanilla, stirring just until mixed. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add flour mixture to date mixture. Pour into prepared Bread N' Cake Bake Pan. Place cover on Bread N' Cake Bake Pan, and place in Crock-Pot. Cover Crock-Pot and bake on High for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Check bread after 1 1/2 hours for doneness. Bread is done when sides start pulling away from pan.
