Preparation:
Mix flour and shortening well in large mixing bowl. Stir in yeast, 1/2 cup warm water, and 1/4 cup sugar. Mix well to blend. Add remaining water, evaporated milk, remaining sugar and salt. Mix until dough is smooth (about 3 minutes). Let dough rise 30 minutes in warm place. Punch dough down and let rest 5 minutes. Make dough into desired size and shape rolls. Let rise. Bake at 400F for 15 minutes. |
