SLOPPY JOE (REGULAR OR DIABETIC)
 

Ingredients:

1 medium Onion (Finely chopped or diced)
1 pound LEAN HAMBURGER
2/3 Cup BROWN SUGAR (SEE NOTE)
2/3 Cup CATSUP
1/3 Cup WATER (SEE NOTE)
1/3 Cup VINEGAR
2 DASHES WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE
1 teaspoon salt and PEPPER (TO TASTE)
1/2 Teaspoon MUSTARD
1 1/2 Tablespoon FLOUR (IF THICKER MIXTURE DESIRED)
 

Preparation:

BROWN, IN A SKILLET, THE HAMBURGER AND THE ONION AND DRAIN. COMBINE THE REMAINING INGREDIENTS WITH THE HAMBURGER/ONION MIXTURE AND BRING TO A BOIL. WHEN MIXTURE BOILS, LOWER THE HEAT AND SIMMER 15 TO 20 MINUTES AND COVER. SERVE ON BREAD SLICES OPEN FACE OR AS SANDWICHES ON HAMBURGER BUNS. (I LIKE A 1/2 SLICE OF CHEESE ON MINE) POTATO CHIPS GO GOOD WITH THESE. • NOTE: • SUBSTITUTE ¾ C. OF COLA (PEPSI OR COKE) INSTEAD OF THE BROWN SUGAR AND WATER (UNCOVERED WHILE SIMMERING). • DIET COLA MAY BE USED FOR DIABETICS
