Preparation:
Combine chicken, onions, carrots, celery, garlic, bay leaf, sage, 2 teaspoons salt, pepper, and chicken broth in a large sauce pot, over a high flame bring to a boil, reduce heat, partially cover, and simmer for 2 hours skim fat and scum from top often while simmering meanwhile, combine flour, baking powder, and remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt-mix well in another bowl, combine egg, milk, and melted butter-mix well add to flour mixture-mix well drop by large spoonsful into simmering broth on top of chicken raise heat to medium, cover, bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes, without lifting cover remove chicken and dumplings to a serving platter moisten with broth serve hot |
