Preparation:
1. Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly butter and 8 cup (2L) casserole dish.
2. Stir flour with 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.
3. Beat in milk and vanilla until thick and smooth. Stir in 3 Tbsp cocoa with melted butter until blended. Stir into flour mixture.
4. Add chocolate and stir just to evenly distribute. Turn into buttered casserole and smooth top.
5. To make the sauce stir 1/3 cup sugar, brown sugar, and 2 Tbsp cocoa powder in small bowl. Sprinkle evenly over batter.
6. Slowly pour water over top, DO NOT STIR.
7. Bake in centre of preheated oven until cake appears slightly glazed on to and sauce is bubbling around edges, about 25-30 minutes. Set hot.
Notes: Vanilla icecream or frozen yogurt are excellent toppings for this gooey pudding cake. |
