Preparation:
Cream butter until fluffy. Gradually beat in egg yolks. Beat in flour and salt. Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Fold egg whites into mixture. In a 9-inch metal pie pan, heat milk, mixed with vanilla and sugar, to a boil. Stir egg mixture into milk. Bake in preheated moderate oven (350 F.) until golden brown, about 15 to 20 minutes. Cut into wedges, lift out in pieces with a pancake turner or spatula. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar. Serve at once.
