LINGUINE WITH WALNUT SAUCE

Ingredients:

     1/4  cup           olive oil
   1      clove         garlic -- peeled
     1/4  teaspoon      pepper
   1      teaspoon      dried basil leaves
   1      cup           freshly grated Parmesan cheese -- (4 oz.)
     1/2  cup           warm water
     1/2  cup           broken walnuts
   6      cups          hot -- cooked linguine (3/4 lb. uncooked)
 

Preparation:

Place oil, garlic, pepper and basil in a blender; cover and blend 3 seconds at high speed, until garlic is crushed. Add cheese and 1/4 c. of the water and blend again until fairly smooth. Add nuts and remaining 1/4 c. of water and blend until mixture is thick and smooth. Makes about 1 c. sauce. Serve sauce over hot, cooked linguine.
