Ingredients:

   1      cup           Sugar
     2/3  cup           Margarine or butter -- softene
   1                    Egg
   2                    Ounces unsweetened chocolate -- Melted and cooled
     1/3  cup           Buttermilk -- milk or water
   1      teaspoon      Vanilla
   1 3/4  cups          All-purpose flour * -- Or whole wheat flour
     1/2  teaspoon      Baking soda
     1/2  teaspoon      Salt
   1      cup           Chopped nuts -- if desired
   1      package       (6 ounces) semisweet -- Chocolate chips
                        -----CHOCOLATE FROSTING-----
   2                    Ounces unsweetened chocolate
   2      tablespoons   Margarine or butter
   3      tablespoons   Water
   2      cups          Powdered sugar (about)
 

Preparation:

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix, sugar, margarine, egg, chocolate, buttermilk and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda, salt, nuts and chocolat Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart into ungre cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until almost no indentation rem when touched; cool. Frost with Chocolate Frosting. *If using self-rising flour, omit baking soda and salt.CHOCOLATE FROSTINGHeat chocolate and margarine over low heat until melted. Remove from heat. Stir in water and powdered sugar until smooth.
