Ingredients:

   3      cups          Apples, cooking; peeled -- cored, and sliced
   3      cups          Pears; peeled, cored -- sliced
   1      tablespoon    Lemon juice
   5      tablespoons   Margarine -- nondairy
   1      cup           Flour, pastry -- whole wheat
     2/3  cup           Oats -- rolled
     1/2  cup           Sugar -- brown OR
     1/2  cup           Maple syrup granules
   1      teaspoon      Cinnamon -- ground
     1/4  teaspoon      Nutmeg -- freshly ground
     1/2  cup           Walnuts -- coarsely chopped
 

Preparation:

Place fruit in an 8 1/2-inch round glass dish. Sprinkle wiht lemon juice. In a large bowl, cut butte into flour with a pastry cutter. Stir in remaining ingredients. Sprinkle mixture evenly over apples and pears. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 11 to 13 minutes, or until fruit is tender, rotating twice. Let stand until cool enough to serve.
