Preparation:
Beat sugar and egg at medium speed with an electric mixer until blended.
Combine flour and next 4 ingredients; gradually add to sugar mixture,
beating at low speed until blended. Add molasses; beat until blended. Stir
together water and butter until butter melts; add to molasses mixture,
beating until blended. Pour into a greased and floured 8-inch square pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in
center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Place doily on cake;
sift with powdered sugar. Remove doily to reveal pattern. |
