Mock Sour Cream

Ingredients:

  1                cup  milk
  4                tsp  buttermilk powder ( Buttermilk powder can
                        be found in health food
                        stores and some supermarkets )
     1/2           tsp  unflavored gelatin
     1/2           cup  plain low-Fat or Fat Free yogurt
 

Preparation:

1.) In a med. sized heavy saucepan , Wisk together the milk and the buttermilk powder. Sprinkle the gelatin on top and let stand until the gelatin softens - about 5 mins. 2.) Set the pan over low heat and cook stirring occasionally , for 5 mins or until the gelatin dissolves . Remove from the heat and Wisk in the yogurt . 3.) Transfer the mixture to a med. - sized bowl , cover , and chill in the refrigerator for one hour or until thickened . Store tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days .
