Peg's Crockpot Chili

Ingredients:

   3      pounds        ground beef -- cooked and drained
   4      1 lb          cans kidney beans -- drained
   1      6 oz can      tomato paste
   1      large         onion -- coarsely chopped
   1      teaspoon      garlic -- chopped
   2      packages      French's Chilio mix
   8      tablespoons   chili powder
   3      tablespoons   Paprika
   3      28 oz cans    crushed tomatoes
 

Preparation:

Brown and drain ground beef. Add chili mix to burger and mix very well. Make sure all beef is coated with mix. Add tomatoes, 1/4 can of water for each can, kidney beans, onion. Stir this all in well. Add spices and tomato paste last, as it will mix in better with all the liquid already in the pot. Turn on and cook for 6-8 hrs. I cook it on high for the first half of cooking and low the second half. If you like chili with a real tomato flavor you will love this chili. You can susbstitute your own fresh tomatoes, crushed, just use the approximate same amount as a 28 oz. can. May use fresh tomatoes from your garden......just add same amount as you would in the cans and be sure to blanch and skin first. They will also require added salt (to taste) since they aren't spice
