Spicy Teriyaki Meatballs

  1              pound  ground round
  2        tablespoons  flat-leaf parsley
  2        tablespoons  chives
     1/4           cup  celery leaves
  1                     egg
  3        tablespoons  fresh breadcrumbs
     1/4      teaspoon  kosher salt
     1/2      teaspoon  freshly ground white pepper
     1/2           cup  unsalted butter
     1/2           cup  soy sauce
  1         tablespoon  candied ginger
     1/8      teaspoon  ground allspice
     1/2      teaspoon  sugar
 

Preparation:

combine beef, parsley, chives, celery leaves, egg, breadcrumbs, half the salt, and half the white pepper-mix well shape into 3/4-1 inch diameter meatballs heat butter in a skillet, over a moderate flame add meatballs and brown well on all sides drain on a cooling rack and blot with paper towels remove to a serving platter, keep warm combine soy sauce, ginger, allspice, remaining salt, remaining white pepper, and sugar in a saucepan, over a medium flame heat and stir to dissolve sugar pour over meatballs skewer with wooden picks serve hot
