Ingredients:

  3               Cups  all-purpose flour
  1 1/2           Cups  sugar
  3              Large  eggs -- beaten
     1/3           Cup  vegetable oil
  1 1/2           Cups  milk
  2          Teaspoons  vanilla
  1         Tablespoon  baking powder
                        Vanilla Frosting:
  1              Pound  box confectioners' sugar
     3/4         Stick  unsalted butter -- softened
  1         Tablespoon  milk
  1           Teaspoon  vanilla
                        Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a mixing
                        bowl combine flour and sugar. Beat in
                        eggs and oil and stir in milk and
                        vanilla. Stir until combined well and pour
                        batter into 2 buttered and floured 9-inch
                        round cake pans. Bake for 35
                        minutes. Let cool in pans for 5 minutes
                        and turn out on racks to cool
                        completely.
 

Preparation:

Spread tops of layers with some of the frosting. Stack layers and spread remaining frosting on sides, swirling decoratively. Vanilla Frosting In a bowl beat sugar and butter until fluffy. Add milk and vanilla and beat until creamy and combined well.
