Ingredients:

   1      box           cake mix white or yellow
   1      stick         butter
   1                    egg -- beaten
   1      package       cream cheese
   3                    eggs
   1      box           powdered sugar
   1      teaspoon      vanilla
   1      can           dark sweet cherry pie filling -- (optional)

Preparation:

Mix cake mix, butter, and beaten egg together and press into a 9 X 13 inch greased baking pan. Beat cream cheese, eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla and pour over cake mix batter. Bake in a preheated 325 oven for 30 to 40 minutes. Cut into squares or top with pie filling.
