Egg Less, Milk Less, Butter Less Cake

Ingredients:

  1                cup  brown sugar
  1                cup  water
  1                cup  raisins
  2              tbsp.  drippings
     1/2      teaspoon  salt
  1 1/2           cups  sifted all-purpose flour
     3/4      teaspoon  soda
     1/2      teaspoon  ginger
  1           teaspoon  cinnamon
 

Preparation:

Cook together sugar, water, raisins, drippings and salt. Let cool. Sift together flour, soda, ginger and cinnamon. Stir into the cooled cooked mixture. Mix well. Bake 1 hour at 350F in a greased loaf pan. To make a delicious fruit cake add a cup of chopped dates, 1 cup mixed peel, 1/2 cup nuts or drop by teaspoonfuls on a cookie sheet and bake 15 minutes.
