Ingredients:

     1/2  cup           shortening
   1 1/2  cups          sugar
   2 1/2  cups          flour
   9      whole         egg yolks
   1      cup           milk
   3      teaspoons     baking powder
   1      teaspoon      lemon juice
                        salt to taste

Preparation:

Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly. Beat egg yolks and add to butter and sugar. Sift and measure flour; sift again with the baking powder and salt Add alternately with milk to other ingredients. Bake in slow oven (325 degrees.) in a sheet or ungreased angel food pan; in sheet pan bake 30 minutes; angel food pan 50 to 60 minutes.
