Chili Pie

Ingredients:

   1      pound         ground beef
     1/2  cup           chopped onion
   1      can           tomato sauce -- (8 oz.)
   1      can           drained whole kernel corn -- (8 oz.)
     1/4  cup           liquid from corn
   1      envelope      chili seasoning -- (or
                        sloppy joe seasoning) mix
   1      can           big flaky biscuits -- (10 oz.)
   2      tablespoons   milk
     1/3  cup           cornmeal
   1      cup           shredded cheddar cheese
 

Preparation:

Brown beef and onion together. Add tomato sauce, corn and 1/4 cup liquid from corn, together with seasoning mix. Simmer about 10 minutes while preparing crust. Separate biscuits; dip first in milk, then in corn meal. Arrange 7 biscuits around sides and 3 on bottom of ungreased 9 or 10 inch pie plate. Press to form crust on sides and bottom (edge will be scalloped). Sprinkle crust with 1/2 cup cheese; spoon hot meat mixture over cheese; sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup cheese. Bake at 375F for 20 to 25 minutes, until crust Is deep golden brown. Cool 5 minutes before serving.
