SAUTEED SLICED BEEF WITH SNOW PEAS SHANGHAI

Ingredients:

   1 1/2  pounds        flank steak -- cut in slices
   1      pound         fresh snow peas
     1/2  pound         mushrooms -- sliced
   6      tablespoons   peanut oil
   1      teaspoon      garlic -- chopped
   1      teaspoon      ginger -- chopped
   1      teaspoon      scallion -- chopped
     1/2  teaspoon      MSG -- (optional)
     1/4  teaspoon      white pepper
   1      tablespoon    Hoisin sauce
   1 1/2  tablespoons   soy sauce
 

Preparation:

Heat 4 T oil in wok. Cook beef over hot flame until rare. Do not overcook. Set aside on warm plate. Heat additional 2 T oil and add garlic, ginger and scallion. Stir fry for about one minute. Add beef, mushrooms and snow peas and cook for 3 to 5 minutes. Meat should be medium rare. Add MSG, pepper, Hoisin sauce and soy sauce and mix well. Serve at once.
