Slowcooker Swiss Steak

Ingredients:

   1 1/2  pounds        cubed round steak -- up to 2
   2      tablespoons   flour
   1      teaspoon      salt
     1/8  teaspoon      pepper
   2      tablespoons   salad oil
   1      can           (16 oz.) tomatoes -- cut up
   1      large         onion -- sliced
   1      stalk         celery -- thinly sliced
   1      tablespoon    thick bottled steak sauce -- (like A-1) optional
 

Preparation:

Steak should be in serving-sized pieces. Coat with flour, salt and pepper. In large skillet brown meat in oil, and pour off excess fat (most times I omit this first step and the steaks come out just as well). In crockpot, combine meat with tomatoes, onion, celery, and steak sauce. Cover pot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until tender. Thicken juices if desired, with additional flour dissolved in a small amount of water. Makes 5 to 6 servings.
