Preparation:
Preheat oven to 425 F.
Combine flour (and buttermilk blend - if using) baking powder, soda, salt
and
sugar in a mixing bowl.
Cut in shortening and butter until mixture is coarse and grainy.
Sprinkle buttermilk over mixture and stir lightly with a fork to blend.
Turn out onto a lightly floured board and knead (8-10 times) until mixture
is
just rollable.
Roll out to about 1/2 inch thick and cut into 2 inch discs with a cookie
cutter.
Brush tops with melted butter or sweet milk and bake on a lightly greased
cookies sheet (12-15 minutes) until golden.
