1-1/2 ounces brandy 1-1/2 ounces sweet vermouth 1/2 teaspoons simple syrup 2 dashes bitters
Shake ingredients in ice-filled cocktail shaker. Garnish with maraschino cherry, if desired. Strain into old-fashioned glass over ice.
