Spicy Lamb In Pita Breads

Ingredients:

  1              pound  ground lamb
  1              small  -- onion (1/2 cup) --
                        chopped
  1              clove  garlic -- minced
  1         tablespoon  vegetable oil
     1/2      teaspoon  salt
     1/2      teaspoon  ground cumin
     1/4      teaspoon  pepper
  4                     pita bread rounds -- (6 inch diameter)
                        shredded lettuce
  1             medium  tomato -- (1 cup), chopped
     1/2           cup  plain lowfat yogurt
  1         tablespoon  chopped fresh mint
  1           teaspoon  sugar
     1/4         small  -- cucumber, seeded
                        and chopped
 

Preparation:

Cook lamb, onion and garlic in oil over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until lamb is brown; drain. Stir in salt, cumin and pepper. Cut each pita bread in half to form pockets. Spoon 1/4 lamb mixture into each pocket. Top with lettuce and tomato. Mix remaining ingredients; serve with sandwiches
