Ingredients:

  2               cups  flour
  4          teaspoons  baking powder -- heaping
  1              pinch  salt
  2          teaspoons  sugar
  4          teaspoons  crisco -- up to 6
  1                     egg -- beaten
     2/3           cup  water
     1/3           cup  milk
 

Preparation:

1. In a large bowl combine all dry ingredients; mix with fork. 2. Add crisco; blend until mixture is crumbly. 3. Beat together egg, water and milk; add to flour mixture until wet. It will be gooey, dont over handle. 4. Roll out dough to 1 1/2" thick on floured surface and cut into 24 circles. 5. Bake at 450F for 10 minutes until golden. Notes: Hilda makes the best brown bread, biscuits and shortbread.
