Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 220°C (425F). Melt half the butter in a heavy pan,
add the onions, cover and cook very slowly until they start to soften.
Rub the remaining butter and the lard into the flour, then bind together
with a little water to form a firm dough. Roll the pastry out to line a
8-9in flan case. beat the eggs with the milk, salt and pepper, add the
onions and pour mixture into the pastry case. Bake for 35-40 mins until
the pastry is cooked and filling is firm and golden brown. Serve hot or
cold with veg or salad. |
