Preparation:
1. Melt 1/2 cup sugar over medium heat in heavy 2-quart saucepan; stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes, or until melted and amber-colored.
2. Remove from heat; carefully add water.
3. Mix together cornstarch, sugar and salt; gradually stir in milk until smooth.
4. After mixture stops foaming, add cornstarch mixture; stirring constantly, bring to a boil over medium heat and boil 1 minute.
5. Remove from heat; stir in margarine, coffee powder and vanilla.
6. Turn into individual serving dishes. Cover; chill. |
