Preparation / Directions:
* whip chopped fresh or canned pear in a food processor or blender until smooth
Beat together blended pear, eggs, and oil until creamy. Add flour, rolled oats, and baking powder. Beat until well mixed. Oil and flour two 8" square baking pans. Spoon half of the batter into each pan and smooth evenly. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 mintues or until nicely browned and firm to teh touch. Cool on wire racks.
Cut each cake square into six bars (cut in half in one direction and in thirds in the other). Spread date filling on half the bars and cover with remaining bars.
