Chocolate Revel Bars

Ingredients:


3 cups quick-cooking rolled oats

2 1/2 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup margarine or butter

2 cups packed brown sugar

2 large eggs

4 teaspoons vanilla

14 ounces sweetened condensed milk

1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate pieces

2 tablespoons margarine or butter

1/2 cup chopped walnuts
 

Preparation / Directions:


Combine oats, flour, soda, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Beat the 1 cup margarine for 30 seconds; add brown sugar and beat till fluffy. Add eggs and 2 teaspoons of the vanilla; beat well. Stir dry ingredients gradually into beaten mixture till well combined. Heat together sweetened condensed milk, chocolate pieces, 2 tablespoons margarine, and 1/4 teaspoon salt ove rlow heat, stirring till smooth. Rove from heat. Stir in walnuts and the remaining 2 teaspoons vanilla. Pat 2/3 of the oat mixture in the bottom of an ungreased 15x10x1-inch baking pan. Spread chocolate mixture over dough. Dot with remaining oat mixture. Bake in a 350-degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool on a wire~ rack. Cut into bars.
