Grandma Evelyn's Butterscotch Nut Squares

Ingredients:


4 tablespoons butter -- melted

1 cup brown sugar

1 large egg -- well beaten

--sift together the following:--

1 cup flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

--stir in:--

1/2 cup chopped nuts
 

Preparation / Directions:


Mix well the butter, brown sugar and egg. Let stand until cool. Then add the remaining dry ingredients. This makes a rather stiff dough. Spread the mixture in a well-greased cake pan, 8-inches square. Bake 20 to 30 minutes in a moderate oven, 350F. Cut into squares and let cool in the pan. These cookies are easier to remove when cold.
