Braised Cabbage and Apples

Ingredients:


1/4 cup water

6 cups finely shredded cabbage -- (1 lb)

2 tablespoons cider vinegar

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 medium cooking apples/Rome beauty or Macintosh cored and sliced

1/2 teaspoon sugar
 

Preparation / Directions:


In a large saucepan or skillet (not aluminum) bring water to a boil over moderately high heat; add cabbage, vinegar and salt, stir to mix. Cover pot and cook over moderately low heat for 20-25 minutes until cabbage is wilted and tender. Add apples and sugar to pot and cook 5 minutes longer
