Joyce's Sweet-And-Sour Sauce

Ingredients:


1 cup white vinegar

1 cup sugar

1 1/2 tablespoons ketchup

1 slice fresh ginger -- bruised

1/4 teaspoon salt

3 drops Tabasco sauce
 

Preparation / Directions:


Every Chinese cook has his own version of this. This one is intended for quick cooking in an American kitchen. In a saucepan, combine the vinegar, sugar, ketchup, ginger, salt and Tabasco sauce; bring to a boil. Continue cooking over high heat and reduce to the consistency of a light syrup that lightly coats a spoon. Makes 1 1/2 Cups
