Ingredients:


1 cup yellow cornmeal

1 cup plain flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon onion salt

1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic

1 large egg -- well beaten

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup green onion -- finely chopped
 

Preparation / Directions:


Preheat oil in deep fryer or cast-iron skillet to 350 - 375F. Stir all dry ingredients together. Make a well in dry ingredients; add egg and 3/4 cup buttermilk. Stir thoroughly; add 1/4 cup buttermilk if needed. Add green onions; mix well. Drop by spoonfuls into hot oil for 3-4 minutes or until brown. Drain on absorbent paper.
