Ingredients:


1/4 cup unsalted butter

1 cup sugar

2 large egg yolk

1 large egg

4 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 cup buttermilk

2 cups powdered sugar

1 Cup vegetable shortening
 

Preparation / Directions:


Cream butter and sugar together stir in egg yolks and egg-mix well sift together flour, baking powder, nutmeg, and baking soda mix into butter mixture stir in buttermilk-mix well heat shortening to 375 degrees drop batter by tablespoonsful into hot fat lightly brown on both sides remove with a slotted spoon to drain on a cooling rack blot with paper towels dust with powdered sugar serve warm or at room temperature
