Pears In Chocolate Syrup

Ingredients:


2 1/2 cups red wine

1/3 cup sugar

1/2 piece stick cinnamon

1 dash ground coriander

3 whole cloves

1 teaspoon grated rind of 1 orange

4 medium firm -- ripe pears

1 jar chocolate sauce

3 tablespoons cognac

1 bunch mint leaves for garnish -- (optional)
 

Preparation / Directions:


In saucepan combine wine, sugar, cinnamon, coriander, cloves and rind. Bring to boil. Add pears. Reduce heat. Simmer just until tender, about 8 minutes. Remove pears with slotted spoon. Core from bottom if desired. Place pears upright in 4 sherbet-type glasses or bowls. Mix together cognac and chocolate sauce. Pour sauce around pears. Garnish with mint if desired. Approximately 10-12 minutes.
